Hydrocotyle
This is a group of vigorous growing, aquatic perennials, commonly known as Water Pennywort. They are suitable for growing on the perimeter of your water garden. Depending on the variety, Water Pennyworts grow from 4 to 12 inches high. H. vulgaris is a hardy variety from North Africa and Europe; H. americana is a semi-hardy plant found wild in the southern United States; H. verticilata is the most popular. They produce round, penny-shaped, peltate leaves. Unnoticeable umbels of pink or white flowers grow below the leaves from June through September.
Pot Cultivation
Grow Water Pennyworts in gallon containers. They can be placed in up to 2 inches of water, in a location with full sun or partial shade. If care is not taken, they can become a nuisance.
Propagation
Cuttings can be made from rooted stolons.
