Sanvitalia

This annual belongs to the Daisy family, Compositae and is a native of Mexico. This trailing plant grows up to 6 inches high and will spread 2 to 3 feet. Its ovate to wide lanceolate leaves are 2 to 3 inches long. It produces single or semi-double yellow flowers, up to an inch across.

Pot Cultivation

Sanvitalia, the creeping Zinnia, loves sun and light, well-drained soil, which is moist to on the dry side.

Propagation

Seeds may be started indoors at a 70-degree temperature, 6 to 8 weeks before it's safe to plant outside. Seeds may also be sown right outside where they are to grow when the soil warms. The seeds need light to germinate, so don't cover them.
