Transformation for herbicide resistance

No genetic transformation aimed at conferring herbicide resistance to eggplant has been published so far. However, eggplants resistant to atrazine have been generated by screening somatic embryos derived from EMS-mutagenised seeds for their ability to grow in the presence of 15 mg^-1L of atrazine.⁷³
